Successful applicants must have:

Take the lead in:
  • Promoting high expectations and a positive work ethic in the Sixth Form;
  • Analysing sources of feedback (including from parents) and data to support teachers, tutors and Subject Leaders as necessary and to congratulate achievers and guide learners who are either struggling or underperforming;
  • Implementing rewards and sanctions as required;
  • To work with Tutors, subject teachers and Learning Support to ensure effective monitoring of, and support for, academic progress and intervention;
  • Mapping of the curriculum across years 10, 11, 12 and 13 to avoid unnecessary clustering of coursework and homework
  • The placement of learners on appropriate courses and the interviewing of learners with Higher Education and career aspirations in mind;
  • The production of the Sixth Form handbook, issued at the start of the year and available online.
  • Arrangement and organisation of mock exams for year 11 students
  • Arrangements for Sixth form options and open evenings and the presentation of information to parents and learners as required;
University applications
  • Oversee University and Higher Education application procedures and careers development.
  • To work with the careers advisors to help support student applications to University.
Pastoral oversight
  • Oversee the personal, social, curricular and vocational guidance, disciplining and counselling of Year 10, 11, 12 and 13 students.
  • Liaise with admissions of new students. Inform staff of new students and provide relevant information.
  • Work with tutors to advise and assist in their pastoral support of students.
  • Liaise with colleagues and the Leadership Group on behalf of students and parents.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour and appearance.
  • Organise assemblies across the school, organising associated rotas.
  • Arrange parents’ evenings for year 10, 11, 12 and year 13
  • To aid in transition activities with the Primary school throughout the year
  • Track student attendance and follow up on strategies and interventions
General
  • Advise the Leadership Group about all new Sixth Form developments through the Head of Secondary.
  • Attend Leadership Group meetings as required.
  • Monitor, evaluate and review all policies and procedures and produce a quality audit in May/June of each year with recommendations for improvement presented to the Leadership Group.
  • Raise the profile of the role and responsibilities of the Head Boy and Head Girl.
  • Take responsibility for the use and organisation of the Sixth Form Common Room and other spaces.
  • To assist the key stage 3 coordinator options and open evenings and the presentation of information to parents and learners as required;
