Job Details

About Blue Cat Blue Cat teaches children aged 8–12 to think critically about artificial intelligence, not by telling them AI makes mistakes, but by letting them catch one. Each learning scenario puts a child inside a situation where an AI system behaves plausibly and is confidently wrong. In one, a planning system is specifically and confidently mistaken because its records cannot see what the room can. In another, an AI companion never fails, never tires and never disagrees and the child works out what those costs. Every learning scenario runs the same five educational stages which are empirically researched: Briefing, Encounter, Investigate, Decide, Reflect.
The role We are looking for an educator to own whether the learning works and whether we can prove it and enhance the learning experience. This is a senior role with two important responsibilities: 1) The measurement instruments that tell us if children learned anything, the pedagogy of the scenarios themselves, and 2) Maintain and build future relationships with schools, the Ministry of Education and education partners.
What you will own Measurement and evaluation: Validate and own the pre/post instruments to measure the learning outcomes. Design, facilitate learning script, develop learning session’s structure, and analyze results and translate them into changes to the learning design. Learning design:Author or support developing new learning scenarios within the five-stage structure. You are designing inside a framework, not replacing it. Define learning objectives and the progression across scenarios. Design the AI vulnerability each scenario teaches: what the system gets wrong, why it is plausible, and how a child could reasonably discover it. Ensure every learning scenario offers more than one honest route to the discovery, so the insight belongs to the child rather than to the script. Review all learning content for accuracy, age-appropriateness, inclusivity and accessibility. Create facilitator guides, teacher materials and parent resources. External engagement:Build and manage future relationships with our partners on curriculum integration and the national children’s AI-use survey. Build and manage school partnerships for pilots and, later, deployment. Represent Blue Cat’s educational approach to external education initiatives, partners and events. Working with the Blue Cat team:Partner with the product, and technical leads to turn learning design into specifications that can be built. What we need from you• Degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, Educational Psychology, Child Development or related.• Real experience teaching or designing curriculum for children aged 8–12. We will want to talk about specific children and specific lessons, not frameworks in the abstract.• Demonstrable experience with learning measurement: Designing assessments, pre/post instruments, rubrics, or evaluating whether an intervention worked. This is the core of the role. Background is content production with evaluation.• Ability to make genuinely difficult ideas, uncertainty, bias, false confidence, automation dependence simple and graspable by a 8-12 years old children• Strongly preferred: Inquiry-based or Socratic teaching practice; experience with digital learning products; published or applied work in AI literacy, media literacy or critical thinking; experience running research or pilots with children.
