The Technical/Workshop Assistant is responsible for assisting with the safe delivery of practical based lessons to both General Engineering and Specialty Training to cadets within the BAE Systems Qatar Technical Institute in Doha, Qatar. The Technical/Workshop Assistant will assist with the safe delivery of a range of practical training modules, across both the General Engineering and Specialty programme or within their Mechanical/Electrical trade boundary. The safe delivery of the modules will contribute toward the Technical Institute s commitment to deliver a safe, reliable and high quality training service enabling learners attainment of externally accredited qualifications. The Technical/Workshop Assistant will distribute equipment, materials and assist in keeping the workshop areas clean and tidy in compliance with all SHE regulations and local TI policies. The Instructor/Assessor will actively contribute to the continuing improvement of the QTI, through identification of ideas and embracing the suggestions of others. Core Activity The role will assist with the safe delivery and assessment of a range of practical training modules, intervening and bringing to the attention of instructional staff instances of unsafe or incorrect practices. Predominantly within the workshops but also other practical training areas. The role will distribute tools, equipment, materials and assist in keeping the workshop areas clean and tidy in compliance with all SHE regulations and local TI policies. The role will also assist with other tasks related to the delivery of practical training and assessment activities under the direction of instructional staff as the need arises. Key Accountabilities: Assisting with the safe delivery of a range of practical training modules Ensuring training assistance is delivered in compliance with all SHE regulations and local TI policies. Storage and distribution of tools, equipment and materials Keeping the workshop areas clean and tidy in compliance with all SHE regulations and local TI policies. Prepare workshops/practical areas for classes and clear the workshop/practical areas after the class as directed.
Desired Candidate Profile
Level 2 Qualification in an Engineering related discipline Working Knowledge of SHE and its application in an engineering environment Native English speaker or for second language minimum of IELTS 4.5 2yrs training/technical assistance experience gained outside of QTTC assisting with/delivering: Apprentice Engineering training Military Engineering trade training FE College (Engineering or Technology) Ability to speak Arabic is an advantage
