Job description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our Veterinary Services team in a unique and rewarding animal care environment. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to work with one of the world's most fascinating and iconic animal species while contributing to the highest standards of animal health, welfare, and conservation.

The Veterinary Technician will work closely with veterinarians, animal trainers, and animal care professionals to support daily veterinary procedures, monitor animal health and behavior, maintain accurate medical records, and assist with husbandry and training activities. The successful candidate will also participate in rotating monitoring shifts, observing animal behavior, documenting findings, and promptly reporting any health or behavioral concerns.

This position is ideal for a motivated veterinary professional who is passionate about animal welfare, enjoys working in a collaborative multidisciplinary team, and is eager to develop specialized skills in a world-class animal care environment.

Skills

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology, Veterinary Nursing, Animal Health, Animal Science, or a related field.
  • Veterinary Technician certification or professional licensure (preferred).
  • Previous experience in veterinary practice, zoological parks, wildlife facilities, aquariums, rehabilitation centers, or exotic animal care is an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of animal health, welfare, and husbandry principles.
  • Strong observation skills with the ability to recognize subtle changes in animal health or behavior.
  • Experience assisting with veterinary examinations, treatments, and medical procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, public holidays, and after-hours when required.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare, safety, and biosecurity.
