• Monitor and troubleshoot network performance issues, including bandwidth and connectivity problems.
• Support and maintain local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and virtual private networks (VPN).
• Implement network security protocols to protect the organization from external and internal threats.
• Provide technical support for network-related issues and liaise with third-party vendors for hardware/software support.
• Perform regular network performance assessments and recommend improvements.
• Configure and manage network monitoring tools to identify issues and track usage metrics.
• Collaborate with other IT departments to integrate network solutions with other technology systems.
• Document network architecture, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Assist in network upgrades and migrations, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations regarding network security and data protection.

Skills

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Proven experience working as a Network Specialist or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.).
• Proficiency with network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.) and network monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with network security concepts and firewalls (e.g., configuring ACLs, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems).
• Hands-on experience with routing and switching technologies (Cisco, Juniper, etc.).
• Knowledge of cloud networking, SD-WAN, and virtualization technologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
• Ability to configure and manage wireless networks (Wi-Fi).
• Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff.
• Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Network+, or equivalent are preferred.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
• Knowledge of network performance optimization and traffic analysis tools.
• Familiarity with networking in virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Experience with network storage technologies (NAS, SAN).
