Responsibilities



The Dean is responsible for promoting academic, administrative and fiscal leadership in accordance with the UDST's mission, vision and strategic plan. This includes overseeing and ensuring academic quality, providing leadership and direction to faculty and staff to support the operational and academic expectations of program delivery, fostering and maintaining educational (and other) partnerships in the State of Qatar in support of applied education.


 


Candidates should have an outstanding record of academic experience and possess the qualifications necessary to be successful in the role of Dean, College of Business. The successful candidate is responsible to provide academic leadership in the Business Management programs in fulfilling the College's mission, vision and strategic plan. Candidates will develop and implement an annual strategic plan and lead the policy development initiatives for the College in conjunction with the university's management. Responsibilities also include developing, delivering and evaluating programs in the College while providing strategic leadership to all quality assurance and accreditation activities, establishing positive partnerships with businesses and government bodies. Candidates will promote applied education and act as a mentor for students by participating in student events and promote non-traditional learning activities, attend leadership and management meetings and participate in initiatives to support UDST's strategic goals. Responsibilities also include establishing Program Advisory Committees to maximize opportunities for industry collaboration.


 


The Dean, College of Business will promote research in accordance with the university's mission and vision and liaise with academic partners, in regard to accreditation, student exchange, articulations or other academic quality program issues. Candidate will resolve sensitive inquiries by students and faculty in accordance with the professional code of ethics and prepare an annual academic report on the performance of the college's academic programs, plan financial resources and lead the establishment of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the college.


 


Candidates will provide professional development support and perform periodic performance reviews for direct subordinates to contribute to the development of employees, develop workforce plans for Academic units in collaboration with the Human Capital Directorate and have excellent organizational, leadership, decision-making, delegation and communications skills as well as the ability to act as a mentor to team members.

Qualifications



Education and Certifications:


Earned PhD degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized, accredited institution.


Experience:



  • A minimum of ten (10) years of fulltime academic experience in an internationally recognized institution, with a record of successful participation/leadership in applied research projects.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of employment experience as a practitioner/professional within the relevant discipline.

  • A distinguished record of scholarly achievements that meet the standards for an appointment at the full professor level;

  • A record of sound leadership and administrative accomplishment; and a familiarity with the international higher education systems. 


Preferred Experience



  • Strong knowledge of and substantial experience with the development, delivery, evaluation and program accreditation of college or university programs.

  • Record of successful participation/leadership in applied research projects.

  • Experience in leadership and innovation in technology-based projects.


Language:



  • Fluency in written and spoken English language.

  • Bilingual in English and Arabic language is preferred.

  • Ability to design, develop, deliver, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in program outcomes.

  • Digital literacy and demonstrated fluency in technology systems, and an ability to model and facilitate use of current and emerging digital tools to support research and learning.
