Instructors at Qatar Technical Institute (QTI) form the backbone of the training ecosystem and play a critical role in delivering high-quality vocational, technical and defence training in accordance with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) standards. The IT instructor works in the General Studies department, which forms the first year of a two-year diploma.

The primary role of the IT Instructor is to deliver the Information Technology curriculum to military students in accordance with all policies and processes at the QTI. The role involves teaching and supporting the creation, maintenance, and delivery of Information Technology subjects, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Email Applications, and Microsoft PowerPoint, to specific standards within the General Studies department.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to plan and implement engaging lessons based on MoEHE curriculum. They will create an inclusive learning environment that supports student success while maintaining academic rigor and adherence to institutional standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, a commitment to student-centered learning, and the ability to inspire interest and achievement in the different subjects within Information Technology.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing priorities, student needs, and organisational requirements. They will work collaboratively with colleagues and military stakeholders to support student achievement and departmental objectives, fostering positive and productive working relationships across the organisation. The instructor will be agile to meet evolving educational and organizational requirements, embracing change and maintaining a proactive approach to ensure the continued success of students, the department, and the QTI.

1. Deliver high-quality Information Technology instruction in accordance with QTI policies, procedures, and curriculum requirements.
   
2. Support military students in achieving academic success and developing practical digital skills in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Email Applications, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
   
3. Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives within the General Studies department.
   
4. Foster a positive, inclusive, and student-centred learning environment that promotes engagement, problem-solving, digital literacy, and responsible use of technology.

1.Training Delivery

•Teach Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Email Applications, Microsoft PowerPoint, and related Information Technology subjects within the General Studies programme.

•Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that meet curriculum requirements and address diverse student needs.

•Apply effective classroom management strategies and maintain a positive learning environment.

•Provide academic and pastoral support to students throughout their learning journey.

2.Student Progress

•Assess student learning using formative and summative assessment methods.

•Provide timely and constructive oral and written feedback.

•Monitor, record, and report student progress, attendance, and behaviour in accordance with QTI requirements.

3.Curriculum Development and Quality Improvement

•Contribute to the development, review, and enhancement of curriculum materials and teaching resources.

•Participate in lesson observations, feedback processes, and professional development activities.

•Support departmental continuous improvement initiatives and share best practice with colleagues.

4.Administration and Professional Responsibilities

•Maintain accurate student and administrative records within required timescales.

•Use approved teaching and administrative technologies effectively.

•Provide teaching cover when required.

•Follow established communication and reporting procedures.

•Engage fully with QTI performance management processes and professional standards.

•Maintain a professional classroom environment.

5.Health, Safety and Environment (SHE)

•Comply with all QTI health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.

•Complete all mandatory SHE training and demonstrate safe working practices.

Essential:

• Holds qualified teacher status or a relevant education and training qualification (e.g. PGCE, B.Ed., M.Ed., MA, BA, Diploma, or equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, Digital Skills Training, Education, or a related field.
  
• Relevant experience teaching Information Technology subjects to international students in a range of contexts.
  
• Knowledge and experience teaching Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Email Applications, Microsoft PowerPoint, and other essential digital literacy or office productivity applications.
  
• Demonstrable soft skills across a multi-disciplinary department.
  
• Ability to use a range of teaching and administrative technologies.
  
• Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  
• Commitment to cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and continuous improvement. 
  

Desirable:

• Demonstrated knowledge, skills, professional certifications, and/or industry experience in one or more of the following subject areas:
  
  • Java, Python, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, debugging, testing, computer architecture, assembly language, operating systems, network fundamentals, network configuration, cybersecurity principles, applied cryptography, secure communication, database design, AI concepts, machine learning basics, data modelling, analytics, visualization techniques, forensic principles, evidence acquisition, preservation, reporting, SIEM tools (Splunk, Sentinel, QRadar), cloud, mobile, IoT, encryption challenges, cybersecurity analytics, mathematical reasoning applied to computing (storage, bandwidth, data representation)., and Cybersecurity Project Work.
    
• Experience within a military setting.

• In addition to the primary teaching specialism, Instructors may be required to support the delivery, development, assessment, verification, and administration of other subject areas, programmes, or training activities within the organisation as directed by the Customer, Line Manager, Head of Department, or Head of the Organisation. Such responsibilities will be allocated based on the Instructors/Lecturers qualifications, professional experience, industry background, demonstrated competence, and previous teaching or training experience. Where appropriate, Instructors/Lecturers may be provided with internal training, mentoring, professional development, or familiarisation activities to enable them to undertake additional teaching and training responsibilities effectively.
