The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) was founded in Qatar in 2015 as a Doha-based independent institution of higher education. The Institute offers MA and PhD programs in two schools: the School of Social Sciences and Humanities and the School of Economics, Administration and Public Policy. The Institute adopts a student-centred approach to learning, promotes interdisciplinary research, and uses Arabic as the primary language of instruction, with fluency in English a requirement. Doha Institute for Graduate studies launched the MA in Human Rights in 2020 as a two-year master's degree whose academic content combines between law and the different fields of social sciences and humanities. This program aims to provide students with a high-quality education concerning different themes in human rights and international human rights law, develop Arab expertise in the field of human rights , and equip graduates with the necessary analytical skills to engage in basic research and apply it to solve a range of dilemmas and examine existing gaps in knowledge. It also aims to contextualise human rights, historically and politically in order to address the challenges and issues that exist in the Arab region, particularly the Gulf countries, and work towards establishing critical and suitable theories, interpretations, and policies.

The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Master's Program in Human Rights at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to assume their appointment in August 2027. The successful candidate should have a strong academic background in Human Rights, with demonstrated expertise in the human rights context of the Arab region. This includes a solid understanding of legal systems, human rights conditions, and the political and social challenges facing the region. The candidate will be expected to teach graduate-level courses, particularly in International Humanitarian Law and International Criminal Law, and should have experience in curriculum development and course design. They will also be expected to supervise master's theses and contribute to the continued development of the program's academic and research environment.

Main Responsibilities:

• Deliver graduate level courses.
• Supervise master's and doctorate students in the program while actively engaging in the academic life of DI.
• Publish research in specialized and related fields in leading refereed / peer reviewed journals and/or reputable academic publishing houses.
• Undertake administrative responsibilities and contribute to the needs of the program, school, institute, and community
• Participate in various committees at the program, school, and institute levels.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualification, Experiences and Skills:

• Applicants must: Hold a doctorate degree in the field of human rights, law or political sciences
• Demonstrate a track record of scientific research and publications in their field of specialization and related areas in international peer-reviewed journals that align with their academic rank.
• Possess competence and experience in graduate-level teaching.
• Exhibit proficiency in the Arabic language.
• Be capable of attracting external support and funding for research.
• Be willing to engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary research with other members of the program and/or institute.
• Have the potential to build a global reputation in specialized research fields.

Additional Required Documents:

• Preference will be given to candidates with practical experience in the field of human rights, including work with human rights organizations or involvement in documentation, monitoring, advocacy, or litigation related to human rights issues.
• Experience in quantitative research methods is also desirable, including the ability to design quantitative studies, develop survey instruments, collect and analyze data using statistical software.
