Senior Commercial Manager (Aviation)

The opportunity


Project: Secondment of staff and on-call professional services for the airport expansion project. We are hiring an ambitious and forward-thinking security systems manager to join our established and growing team in Qatar.


Performing comprehensive design review functions to ensure quality design and best practices are implemented. To manage a team of engineers and inspectors to ensure proper quality control and that the work performed complies with all requirements of the contract documents, drawings, and specifications.


Your Responsibilities Will Include


  • Managing and directing a team of quantity surveyors that assist with the evaluation and negotiation of construction contractor change orders and claims.
  • Setting-up cost control systems.
  • Advising on procurement strategy.
  • Reviewing and commenting on tender documents, bills of quantities, unit rates, and cost estimates and participating in tender evaluation.
  • Preparing timely estimates for construction contract packages.
  • Preparing tender documentation.
  • Performing procurement and tendering tasks.
  • Preparing supporting documentation for monthly reporting to facilitate clients in assessing project financial standing.
  • Conducting regular site visits to check and record materials delivered to the site work progress achieved, change orders executed and etc.
  • Reviewing the contractors’ payment applications and supplier monthly invoices and participating in the timely preparation of monthly payment requisition.
  • Keeping the head informed as to any changes made in the field through coordination with engineers and supervisors.
  • Conducting change order meetings to progressively settle change orders with the contractors.
  • Ensuring evaluation of change orders is determined in accordance with contract conditions.
  • Assisting in settling contractual disputes and analysing claims and extensions of time.
  • Finalising the project account.
  • Attending and chairing meetings/workshops as required.
  • Performing any other project-related duties and responsibilities as stipulated in the agreement.
  • Performing other duties and taking on other responsibilities as required.


About You


You have a legal qualification in-house or in a private practice construction team, risk reviews, negotiation of bespoke forms of consultancy appointment, and all ancillary documentation such as NDAs, collateral warranties, PCGs, performance bonds, sub-contract/sub-consultant contracts, LOAs, you have an understanding of insurance, public procurement law, and dispute avoidance, familiarity with industry-standard forms of contract eg FIDIC, and you are fluent business and legal English (spoken and written).


You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships, and lead strong, motivated teams. You must have experience in programme or project management equating quality and value with the individual client and be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace has to offer.
