Material Engineer – Cataloguing. This is a long-term contract role working on a residential basis. Please see details below.

Material Engineer – Cataloguing
Start Date: ASAP (typically within 1 month notice)
Location: Qatar Site / Doha Onshore
Working Schedule: 5 days per week / 8-9 hours per day or as per project requirements.
Experience Required
Key Job Accountabilities
- Reviews all SPIR's initiated by client project engineering and Sponsoring departments to ensure technical data provided are supported with equipment datasheets, drawings, specification sheets in support of Purchasing specifications. Create SAP
- Material Master records and ensure no duplicate records are created and approve templates / descriptions.
- Review SPF's raised by client end users, to ensure they are as per set criteria. Identify existing items from Material Master to avoid duplication and approve classification templates / descriptions for new records.
- Ensure text PR's are processed with adequate specification and allocated to Purchasing within the agreed Time frame. Ensure all technical commodity equipment and spares are SAP coded.
- Review and resolve purchasing issues of stock materials against CNR's (Complaint Notification Report) arising due to "Not to Spec" through physical / document verification or supplier justification.
- Support purchasing agreements team for commodity specification, equipment lists.
- Carry out mass uploads in SAP MM on request and contribute for system upgrades.
- Implement Standardization of technical specifications of similar materials to optimize similar materials being stocked and identify items that can be made generic.
- Liaise with vendors, manufacturers, buyers, material coordinators and end-users.
- Maintenance of Material Master Data parameters and resolve technical issues including pre-quote, post order and obsolescence raised by suppliers / manufacturers ensuring specifications are in line with current products available in the market and meet company requirements.
- Prepare and maintain periodic management reports as and when required.
Qualifications
--Minimum Requirements--
- Bachelor’s Degree in E&I (Electronic and Instrumentation) Engineering.
Knowledge and Key Skills
- 8 years’ experience in plant maintenance in Oil & Gas, Petroleum, Petrochemical and
- Engineering industry with 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Exposure to supply chain environment in handling plant engineering equipment, spares, piping materials, etc.
- Working experience in SAP MM or similar ERP (Maximo, Oracle, etc.) is required.
- Design, engineering, technical evaluation experience and all-round expertise of respective discipline.
- Well-versed and Thorough knowledge in relevant international standards API, ASME. ISA, NEMA, IEEE, IEC, NFPA, BASEEFA, ATEX, ANSI, ASTM, TEMA, BS and related codes & statutory regulations.
- Proficient in technical bid analysis, evaluation concepts and related project management techniques.
- Extensive working exposure to Spare Parts Interchangeability Records (SPIR), material specifications, codes & standards, and statutory regulations.
- Exposure in developing equipment material requisition and description with experience in cataloguing techniques and structures with an objective to standardization and variety reduction.
- Leadership and motivation skills with the ability to proactively resolve problems.
- Must work independently to achieve schedule and targets.
- Good problem-solving skills, technical communication skills and interpersonal skills.
