Responsibilities

Infrastructure Planning and Strategy: Developing and implementing technology strategies aligned with the organization's objectives. This involves planning for future infrastructure needs, upgrades, and expansions.


Network Management: Overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's network infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, internet connections, and security measures.


Server Management: Managing the organization's servers, including installation, maintenance, and upgrades. This may involve both physical and cloud-based servers.


Hardware and Software Management: Ensuring that all hardware and software systems are up-to-date, reliable, and properly maintained. This includes managing licenses, upgrades, and troubleshooting issues.


Security Management: Implementing and monitoring security measures to protect the organization's IT infrastructure from cybersecurity threats, such as malware, hacking attempts, and data breaches.


Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Developing and implementing plans to ensure IT systems can recover and continue operations in case of emergencies or disasters.


Budgeting and Resource Management: Managing the IT infrastructure budget, including procurement, cost optimization, and resource allocation for hardware, software, and services.


Team Leadership: Leading and managing a team of IT professionals, delegating tasks, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.


Vendor Management: Overseeing relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure effective delivery of IT services and solutions.


Compliance and Standards: Ensuring that the organization's IT infrastructure complies with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to security, data privacy, and technology.



Qualifications

  1. Education: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field is often required. Some employers may prefer candidates with a master's degree or relevant certifications.
  2. Technical Skills: Proficiency in various areas of IT infrastructure, including networking, system administration, security, and cloud computing, is essential. Specific technical skills may include:
  • Network architecture and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Server administration (Windows, Linux/Unix)
  • Virtualization and cloud computing (VMware, AWS, Azure)
  • IT security practices and tools
  • Storage systems (SAN, NAS)
  • Database management systems (SQL, Oracle, MySQL)
  • Monitoring and performance optimization tools
  1. Experience: Generally, several years of progressive experience in IT roles, including experience in infrastructure management, is required. This might involve roles such as system administrator, network engineer, or IT project manager. Experience in team leadership and project management is highly valuable.
