Qatar Airways is looking for highly experienced Observability and APM Expert to join our team and play a pivotal role in enhancing the performance, availability, and reliability of Airline systems. As an expert in performance engineering, you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and adopting observability tools and APM solutions to monitor, trace, troubleshoot, and optimize our applications and infrastructure performance.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain observability strategies, including the selection and configuration of observability tools and platforms.
• Implement, configure, and manage APM solutions to monitor the performance of applications, services, and infrastructure components.
• Create dashboards, alerts, and reports to provide real-time and historical insights into system behavior.
• Work with application architects, product managers, development engineers, and operations analysts in improving systems performance of our B2B and B2C eCommerce applications and middleware platforms
• Collaborate with development, operations & performance testing teams to identify performance bottlenecks, troubleshoot issues, and optimize application performance.
• Support real-time log collection and aggregation to efficiently handle errors and problem areas.
• Experience in using tools to track metrics, logs, events and traces to understand health of containerized applications.
• Assist in speed root cause analysis and reduce mean time to resolution (MTTR).
• Proactively detect application anomalies and rectify the issues avoiding business disruptions
• Ability to identify and explore performance tools from Observability vendors and lead technical evaluations
• Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends in APM and observability tools.

Qualifications

About You

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Computer Sciences /IT management or equivalent qualification with Minimum 6 years of experience in IT & 4 years of job relevant experience.
• Proficiency in using observability and APM tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, Azure Monitor, or similar.
• Hands-on knowledge on the Dynatrace Managed & SAAS implementations.
• Product life cycle management of the Dynatrace components (ActiveGates, Oneagent, Dynatrace Cluster).
• Good knowledge on the license management DDU, Oneagent, Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM Units).
• Strong querying and scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, bash, PromQL, KustoQL.).
• Technical understanding of the various operating system environments (Windows, Linux), Application Servers (JBoss, Tomcat, IIS) and databases (Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL etc.)
• Technical knowledge on TCP/IP, DNS, network load balancers & TLS protocols and their impact on application performance.
• Familiarity with containerized environments and microservices architecture.
• Good Knowledge on opensource standards like OpenTelemetry and OpenTracing observability frameworks
