The Country Head of Commercial Banking of Qatar is a senior leadership role, assisting the overall performance of the CMB MENAT business. This role is responsible for leading the in country Commercial Banking (CMB) team and providing both strategic and day-to-day guidance to all aspects of CMB activities, to meet customer needs and provide a superior customer experience which is delivered by professionally trained people, and market leading products and services.

In this role, you will:
  • This role is responsible for leading the in country Commercial Banking (CMB) team and providing both strategic and day-to-day guidance
  • The role holder will have management oversight of Client Coverage, International Subsidiary Banking (“ISB”), Business Performance and products including Global Payments Solutions (“GPS”) and Global Trade and Receivables Finance (“GTRF”) in Qatar for the Commercial Banking business.
  • Lead an effective CMB organisational structure in Qatar: Client Coverage, ISB, GTRF and GPS
  • Understand the complexity and dynamics of the country in terms of macro-economics, geo-politics and risk profile
  • Formulate and drive business and product strategies to acquire new-to-bank business, broaden relationship
  • Ensure the needs based cross selling of Group services and achieve CMB’s target for revenue from collaboration with Global Banking and Markets and Wealth & Personal Banking (“WPB”)
  • Achieve key performance indicators, including profit before tax, revenues, expenses, asset balances, liability balances, and return on equity (ROE)
  • Establish metrics and ensure effective tracking of HSBC’s competitor offerings
  • Develop a strong understanding of customer needs by focusing on customer experience and investing in Group-aligned marketing initiatives
  • Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets
  • Drive and encourage constructive cross-country and cross-business teamwork by demonstrating collaboration and matrix management in action
  • Participating in country executive forums and apprising CEO on all issues related to CMB impacting the Group

Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
  • Solid and reputable experience of Executive Leadership in a Corporate / Commercial Banking function
  • Relevant educational qualifications to Masters level is preferred but not essential
  • A proven track record of success in the management of a business or large department, together with a proactive approach to change management
  • Good to have :
  • Proven leadership skills across the GCC region
  • Ability to communicate in Arabic
