We seek a Quantity Surveyor with a solid background in drafting to join our team in the coming weeks or months. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both technical drawings and cost estimation to support project planning, tendering, and execution.
1. Key Responsibilities:1. Cost Estimation and Technical Drawings
- Utilize blueprints, CAD models, and technical drawings to estimate material quantities and costs accurately.
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and cost schedules based on architectural and engineering designs.
- Cross-check drawings and measurements to ensure precise material estimations.
2. Feasibility Studies and Project Planning
- Conduct feasibility assessments using detailed designs and drawings.
- Recommend cost-effective design alternatives that maintain quality standards.
- Provide expert insights into material selections and their budgetary impact.
3. Drafting and Design Support
- Create or modify technical drawings to clarify project scope and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to update designs in response to project changes.
- Integrate drafting tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or CostX into the quantity surveying workflow.
4. Tender Documentation and Procurement
- Prepare comprehensive tender packages, including BOQs, drawings, and specifications.
- Evaluate contractor bids by cross-referencing proposed costs with design layouts and quantities.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure material availability within budget constraints.
5. Cost Control and Variations Management
- Manage design changes and variations by reviewing revised drawings and BOQs.
- Monitor material usage on-site to ensure alignment with the project budget and technical specifications.
- Redline and update drawings to maintain accurate as-built documentation.
6. Valuation and Payment Certification
- Conduct on-site measurements to prepare valuations for contractor payments.
- Ensure interim and final valuations reflect design amendments or additional work.
- Support post-project evaluations by comparing actual costs with initial estimates.
7. Risk Management and Compliance
- Identify potential design risks and suggest adjustments to minimize cost impacts.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and industry standards.
- Provide technical guidance on disputes related to design deviations or quantity claims.
8. Collaboration and Communication
- Act as a liaison between design and construction teams to ensure smooth communication.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and project managers to align budgets with design intent.
- Prepare progress reports highlighting design changes and their financial impact.
Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
